JAMMU, OCT 19: In preparation for the upcoming Police Commemoration Day, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Saturday organized a special programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Canal Road, Jammu, to honor the sacrifices and bravery of police martyrs. The event featured a powerful lecture delivered by Ashok Kumar, DySP Headquarters Jammu, aimed at remembering the police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty while protecting the nation and its people.
As per the release, The Newsroom 24 – Awaz received, the lecture highlighted the significance of Police Commemoration Day, which is observed annually on 21 October across the country. Ashok Kumar provided a historical overview, reminding the audience of the 1959 incident in which ten policemen were killed in a confrontation with Chinese troops, a moment that serves as the origin of the solemn occasion. He stressed that this day is a national reminder of the courage and selflessness exhibited by police personnel who risk their lives to uphold law and order.
In his speech, Ashok Kumar emphasized the importance of paying homage to these martyrs, not only to honor their memories but also to inspire and boost the morale of serving police officers. He further underscored how such observances foster a sense of national unity, strengthening the bond between the police and the community they serve.
The officer’s closing remarks urged the audience to recognize and express gratitude for the immense contributions of police personnel. He reiterated that Police Commemoration Day is not only a day of remembrance but also a celebration of the courage displayed by officers, encouraging future generations to uphold the values of dedication and service to the nation.
